PENOKEE HILLS - WHAT CAN WE DO!

Gogebic Taconite (GTac) has  won day with a very few supporters- a very few who happen to be in the legislature. Those of us who live along the WATERS'S EDGE have not given up. The rude, smug, and arrogant treatment received will not carry the day - Nor will the thousands and thousands or dollars spent on campaigns, advertising, promises of jobs and threats succeed. Savethewatersedge.com will be updated as needed, which will be often. SWE is now soliciting your concerns and questions that need answers from Gogebic Taconite, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Environmental Protection Agency, Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, politicians who have given their complete support to mining in the Penokees, and of course Governor Walker. In addition, Wisconsin Mining Association, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, The Ashland Area Economic Development Corporation and The Northwest Regional Planning Commission expected to defend their policies and the choices these rather "secret" societies have made in very selectively lobbying for the mine. Our first initiative will be to compile the questions that need to be answered before this process moves along. Please feel free to post your thoughts to savethewatersedge@gmail.com and they will be added to the list. As questions come in they will be listed on a SWE "Questions and Concerns" that need to be answered before on rock is moved in the Penokees. Feel free to use any of these questions or any thing else found on SWE for your own use. One final request, these past months has generated hundreds and hundreds of Email addresses. As this process moves forward: Please let us know if you do not want to receive updates or inbox receives more than one Email. In addition, SWE will not solicit donations. Anyone who feels compelled to donate dollars, consider helping to fund the Bad River Ojibwe people and Nation. The monthly potluks and the hard work or so many need our help. .
