Rep. Mursau and Sen. Kedzie will continue their efforts to degrade water protection laws in Wisconsin!

 Dear Representative Mursau,

I'm writing to voice my concerns about Special Session AB / SB 24, the

Polluters over People bill. This bill jeopardizes waterways statewide

by pressuring the DNR to rubber stamp permits for high capacity wells

and shoreland zoning; it threatens our air by removing emissions

modeling for coal plants; it paves the way for mining by granting

presumptive prospecting permits; and it cuts out the public and the

judicial system by reducing public noticing and hearing requirements

and allowing a developer to build on a lakebed despite the fact that

this case is currently being litigated.

Wisconsin's future depends on clean water and clean air. We can't

afford a bill that jeopardizes Wisconsin's $2.75 billion dollar per

year sport fishing industry and our $13 billion dollar per year tourism

industry. Chronic air and water pollution threatens our health,

decreases property values, and reduces recreational opportunities.

Wisconsin needs sustainable family-supporting jobs, not a bill that

rubber stamps permits and rewards corporate polluters by cutting vital

protections for air and water and paves the way for the largest mine

 our state has ever seen.

Please oppose Special Session bills SB 24 and AB 24 and urge your

colleagues to do the same. I look forward to hearing from you soon on

 this critical matter.

 Sincerely,

 Mr. John Fox

 Dear John,

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns.

Last week, the Assembly Natural Resources Committee held a joint public

hearing with the Senate Environment Committee on Special Session Bill

 24. The bill makes changes to a number of current DNR regulations. As

Chair of the committee I had the privilege of listening to important

testimony from individuals on both sides of the bill.

During the 10 hours of testimony a number of legitimate concerns were

raised. Senator Kedzie (Chair of Senate Committee) and I took note of

these concerns and we intend to offer amendments to make it a better

bill. Once we've introduced the amendments I will follow up with you so

are aware of the changes we're proposing.

Once again, thank you for contacting me. Please continue to keep me

informed on issues that are important to you and your family.

 Sincerely,

 Jeff Mursau
