Dear Ms. Leoso:

This letter is to notify you that the St. Paul District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) participated in a meeting with staff from Gogebic Taconite, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, on August 12, 2013.  

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss federal USACE informational needs related to the permit process for mining.  Specific topics of discussion included; Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) requirements, timing, coordination and baseline data needs.  We have enclosed a copy of our meeting notes for your information. 

The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you of our recent meeting.  To date, we have not received a permit application for discharges of dredged or fill material into waters of the Unites States, and we are not soliciting comments at this time.  If you have any questions, contact Bill Sande in our Hayward field office at (715) 934-2170.  In any correspondence or inquiries, please refer to the Regulatory number shown above.
