Dane Deutsch, Republican 25th Senate District candidate from Rice Lake running against incumbent Democrat Bob Jauch of Poplar, issued a press release today focusing on jobs and Gogebic Taconite, LLC.

In the release, Deutsch claims the issue of the election year is jobs and says he's concerned about companies leaving the 25th Senate District with workers “wondering where their next paycheck will come from”

The release explains that Deutsch wants the Wisconsin Legislature to retain jobs and attract out-of-state companies to Wisconsin, “particularly those looking at northern Wisconsin, such as Gogebic Taconite, LLC.”

“I will work tirelessly to return good paying, family‐supporting jobs to the 25th Senate District, and

mining the iron ore deposit located on the Gogebic Range is just the vehicle to do it,” Deutsch is quoted as saying in the release. Deutsch also said that he would help Gogebic Taconite, LLC as the company works through the state's permitting process.

“Gogebic Taconite, LLC recently announced its desire to explore an opportunity to mine taconite along the Gogebic-Penokee Iron Range,” the release reads.

Deutsch is quoted as saying that “this is no small project and it should be carefully scrutinized,” while adding, “But wehave a very real opportunity to create thousands of jobs for our area, and hundreds of permanent jobs for generations to come; this single project could be a major turning point to the economic recovery and prosperity of the 25th Senate District, and I believe it must be given serious consideration.”
